Ghostbusters

We all know who we're gonna call? Ghostbusters have come back in a big way with the release of this very addicting game. Written by GB veterans Harold Ramis (Egon) and Dan Akroyd (Ray), this game takes place 2 years after the events of Ghostbusters 2. This game has fantastic graphics and all the original Ghostbusters playing their characters voices! This game feels very much like a 3rd Ghsotbusters movie considering the involvement of the original cast. The control scheme is great and catching ghosts is an absolute blast. The combat and revive system is very much similar to Gears of War and the levels are all different and fun. My only gripe about this game is the length. I wish it would have been a little bit longer but you can't have everything I guess. I still have yet to try the online multiplayer but it looks promising. I also wished that the normal story mode would have had local multiplayer capabilities but again you can't have everything. Overall playing through this game was very fun and involving. The achievements for the 360 are hilarious as they are normally lines from the films that Ghostbusters fans are sure to catch. If you're looking for a fun game that allows you to relive some classical childhood and cinema moments, I would recommend this game at least for a few day renting period. The replay value will probably be only decent at best for the story mode but that's where I hope the online multiplayer will make up for it!

Adam The All-Night Gamer #1: Press Start

Hey there, gamers! Adam The All-Night Gamer here.
You all remember the feeling well. Sitting at your friend's house, playing video games at 3 in the morning. The only thing lighting the room is the TV screen and sitting in your little hands was your controller of choice.
Your friends have gone to sleep, but you can't resist just one more round. Your eyes are growing heavy, but your gaming reflexes are on full-blast.
Just one more round.
Ah, the joys of old-school gaming. That's what I'm all about. You've got the clunky ol' faithful, NES, the blast processor Sega Genesis, That freakin' awesome Super Nintendo...those were the days, and those sexy lil' beasts showed us all what gaming should be.
In my contribution to our wonderful T double-C site, I'll take you back to the golden age of gaming, give you my input on the games you gotta try and those you should probably pass up. Through the magic of emulators, you can relive some of the best the video game industry has to offer. Join me for the ride, won't you?

Hope to see you soon! If you'll excuse me, I've gotta go to bed.

Currently Playing:

Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time (N64)

Prototype

This game looks absolutely brutal and awesome. Prototype is all about Alex Mercer, a created weapon of mass destruction an his searching through a destroyed war zone of NYC to find who did this to him. This game looks like it will a lot like PS3's Infamous and based on what I have read on both games, they will not disappoint! Prototype will allow players to roam through NYC while gaining new powers. This game hits stores on June 9th and I can't wait for its highly antcipated release. Until then, check out the trailer and see for yourself!

UFC: Freakin' Awesome

So recently I played the new UFC: Undisputed 2009 video game and I have to say that it's very addicting. This game will appeal to any fan of the MMA sport and the realism of this game will completely blow you away! The body physics are very well done and let's just say the best part about this game is knocking someone's ass out! The control scheme is well done and it doesn't take very long for the player to learn how to put together good combos. My only difficulty while playing this game was the takedowns. UFC of course has a lot of takedowns and let's just say it's pretty dificult to get out of one or to get the upper hand in a takedown move! The annoncers Joe Rogan and Mike Goldberg give a good play by play commentary as the fight goes on, and luckily they do not get too annoying or repetitive. Of course this game is backed by a solid career mode and you can also take part in classic UFC fights! I just wanna play this game online though! Other than the tricky ground grapples and moves this game is very very fun and I would highly recommend it to anyone that is fan of UFC!

UP for Xbox 360

Pixar's newest animated film UP is about 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen who sets out to fulfill his lifelong dream to see the wilds of South America by tying thousands of balloon to his home. Right after lifting off, however, he learns he isn't alone on his journey, since Russell, a wilderness explorer 70 years his junior, has inadvertently become a stowaway on the trip. The game begins with Carl and Russell in the floating home while their dog flies an airplane and shots down four other attacking airplanes to save them. Very random compared to the rest of the game I have continued playing so far. After that the two characters fall off of the house and the adventure begins. Walking through. what i can only guess now as being the forests of South Africa and collecting "merit badges" and completing minuscule and repetitive tasks to make their way through the forest. I feel after playing through three levels this game was rushed in order to be released around the same time as the movies release date. This was low on my gamefly gameQ and am not quite sure why i received it so soon, most likely low demand for this game, but i will be sending it back first thing tomorrow unlike skate 2 which i am still playing, still enjoying, and keeping. Keep checking back for my random game reviews and check out some of the other topics we post about on this blog.

Deadpool In Action!

While I can't take credit for this, and don't, I do like to see my favorite Marvel hero in action. This is a little video from the new Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2, due out sometime soon. Just take a look at the wonderful carnage our little Deadpool is causing.

Skate 2 for Xbox 360

I recently received Skate 2 in the mail from Gamefly and after playing it for barely 4 days I can say it is one of the most realistic and time consuming games out there. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone. It is also available for PS3 which I have demoed and they have Skate it for Wii and Nintendo DS, those platforms I have yet to try it but EA did good on designing this game and I'm sure it is phenomenal for those two as well. So if you have not yet tried,go out and rent it or subscribe to Gamefly (www.gamefly.com) and have them send it to you. This game will make you laugh at Tony Hawk's Pro Skater. Never again will you run into a light pole and bounce of it like a padded wall or grind a wooden picket fence and see sparks trailing your trucks. Enjoy everyone, I sure did!

Super Mario Bros' Theme Song

I can't think of anyone who is not a fan of Super Mario Bros. I mean, who hasn't sung the theme song in their head over and over while playing any of the Mario games that have since been released across any number of systems. So as a tribute to this immortal franchise, I present a video of two tesla coils playing the Super Mario Bros theme song. One has the melody while the other plays the bass line. The most impressive thing about this video is that both of them a synced up perfectly the entire time. It is fantastic. Enjoy.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine

While I have not seen the movie yet, I have heard mixed reviews. But I won't deliver any spoilers here since I am sure there are other places on the internet that you can get them from. What I would like to mention is apparently a big disparity between the movie and the game that came out. The movie is rated PG-13 which means there is little to no violence and sex, the two things that make Wolverine an awesome character. So if you feel dismayed by the lack of bloodshed in the movie, just check out this video of the game.

Hopefully that will more than satisfy your bloodlust. Although, much like the movie, the game has only garnered mediocre reviews. But honestly who cares? You are Wolverine, the best at; slashing, dismembering, disemboweling, and of course everyone's favorite, beheading. Though I would not completely trust my word on it as I have not yet played the game, but from the looks of the video it will be good for just sitting back and having some fun slashing people into little fleshy chunks.
